1The Challenge

Duplicated effort means duplicated costs

Flat World is a leading provider of supply chain management solutions, using proprietary technology to optimize FF&E expediting through their platform, HIVE. When Flat World serves as a freight forwarder on a hospitality project, they need detailed PO, spec and order data, the same data that lives in the purchasing company’s Sigma Sourcing account.

Without an integration, someone had to manually re-enter that data in both systems. Every update to a PO meant two updates. Every status change meant two inputs. Duplicated effort at every step, which meant duplicated risk of error, duplicated time and duplicated cost for everyone involved.

2The Solution

One update. Two systems. Zero rekeying.

Sigma Sourcing’s practical and accessible API made the integration possible. When a purchasing company designates Flat World as the freight forwarder on a project, Flat World gains project-level access to Sigma, allowing them to pull critical spec, PO and expediting data directly into HIVE without any manual entry.

The connection works in both directions. When Flat World’s software is updated with freight tracking information, those updates are pushed back into Sigma in real time, so purchasing company users can see live status for every order without ever leaving the Sigma platform.

3The Success

Zero duplicative keystrokes, errors eliminated at the source

The interface between Sigma and HIVE occurs without a single duplicative keystroke. That’s a direct win for accuracy: fewer manual inputs means fewer opportunities for errors to enter the process. It’s also a time-saver and a cost-saver for both the purchasing company and the freight forwarder.

New and updated POs flow seamlessly from Sigma to Flat World, enhancing Flat World’s ability to serve the purchasing companies on their projects. Status updates from Flat World back to Sigma keep those companies informed of every step in the logistics process in real time, the kind of best-in-class visibility that both platforms are built to deliver, now combined in one connected workflow.
